stupid head

life was not meant for sitting around and watching movies all day.
Photobucket
unfortunately, that's alot of what i've been doing lately.
sunday i slammed my head between the car and door.
pretty hard i might add. both sides of my head.
so hard, that it's wednsday and i'm not feeling any better than when i first slammed my head.
my head is swollen on the inside. (that's what the doc said after he squeezed it and asked if it hurt).
a couple weeks for the swelling to go down.
gr.

now, how did i do such a thing?
i couldn't tell you. cuz i'm not even sure how i got my head stuck between the car and car door.
all i know is that i felt stupid.
and i'm wasting time laying on the couch.
i hate feeling lazy.

i tried going to work yesterday.
but the parts of it that i love (being with the kids, getting hugs, talking to people, teaching) were painful.
it made my head throb more.
especially when i had to bend over to talk to a lil person or do my duties in the lunchroom or recess.
and walking around the whole day made me want to puke.

so now, i'm back in my same spot.
icing my head with a bag of frozen berries.
i'm getting bored.
but hey, as long as i'm sitting still, i feel ok. but that doesn't give me many options of things to do.

oh, but look! i love that our new couch is cozy and has a lovely chase.
it's perfect for laying on and curling up on with a blanket.
our lil home is getting a little cuter:)

[see my lil corner? i'm getting to know it really well this week!]
it's definitely feeling cozier-it's not just a big empty room anymore!

with this spare time, i've been putting together a wishlist of things to cutify my home.
a circle rug.
picture frames.
a wall chalkboard:-D
a couple more lamps.

all in good time. one thing at a time.
anyways, i guess i'll go back to my icing and resting.
hope you're having a great wednesday!

count it all joy

well, here are some quick pics i took of the apartment when it was flooded with sewer water.
i never thought I'd wake up with Storm Lake in my home.
most of these pics were taken after the pumps were put in to take the water out.
imagine it before all the pumps got there.
everything in the closets, under our beds, all those things, are gone.
if you look closely, you can see the toilet still gushing out the water. it was coming out of of the toilet and the shower drain. there was nastiness floating everywhere.
most of the things in the living room we have to throw away.
because it was all in contaminated poopy water.
the electronics were saved, but all their cords were fried.
ryan got shocked a couple times unpluggin all the electronics.
in the bedroom especially, the water was warm because of the electric currents going through the water.
Praise the Lord we didn't get hurt by the electricity.

i think it's hitting me more and more than the next time I got home, we won't have hardly anything.
in fact, we are kinda starting from scratch, with less that what we had before we came here.
and yes, it makes me sad.

but I can't help but acknowledge that God is still in control.
and He is still so great.
and it's not as bad as what others might have experienced.
and we have a place to sleep and places to eat.
God provides for our needs all the time.
and He's also the one that decides exactly what those needs are.
and we're willing and wanting God to work in our lives.
Even if it's taking some things too.

here are some pics after they got the water out. the house is in disarray.

count it all joy.
count it all joy.
count it all JOY.

not "your welcome," but "my pleasure!"

loooooooove having Easter break with the sun shining brightly! what a boost it gives the entire town of Storm Lake to get rid of snow and say hello to mr. sunny sun. Ryan and i have been happily enjoying this beautiful break together-although, my poor man is dealing with a lil bit of sickness that had started this past week with awful allergies. we are making the most of our days together before work starts once again. we took a mini trip out of town to Sioux City and went shopping!

here I am the last nite, contemplating all the wonderful possiblities of shopping-oh the things that i could add to my home!

shopping usually weighs us down, and we need some motivation to keep going. back when i lived at home, mom and ilene would have to bribe me to keep moving by feeding me-treating me to coffee drinks, or snacks throughout the day. now however, ryan and i bribe ourselves to keep going. we saw a familiar red and white cup of a dear southern fast food place, and as we turned the corner the heavens opened up and a light shone in front of us as a hallelujah chorus sang out!!!!!! Chick-fila has landed in the midwest!!!! oh what a treat to have a little bit of a southern reminder. I usually avoid fast food, but chick-fila is one place i happily welcome.

i finished off one of the "i-am-bored" crafts. I wanted to fill in that boring empty space in the kitchen, so i made a bulletin board for pics, verses, and reminders on! it's simple, but it works for now and covers up the hospital white wall.

oh, and one last exciting thing! I've been looking for a cookbook stand. i am loving the cooking part of being a wifey, but bending over and crookin my neck over my cookbook while i'm cooking hurt. so when i saw this, i was ecstatic and immediately added this to my shopping cart:)

yay! no more crooked necks!

what a fun day!:) and blogging about it at the end of the day is always a treat for me!

oh sun, we're so happy to have you back. it makes me want to sing and dance!
Our lil home is coming together piece by piece, and each month I look forward to picking that one or two things to add to our place. I'm not sure yet what to do with our bedroom. I want to add more to the white walls, but we can't drill holes in the wall because of the walls' hard cement blocks...any ideas of what i can do without nails?I don't really know what to add without them. (oh, and curtains are on the way:))
